EmployAbility 2016

On October 20, 2016, the second annual EmployAbility Summit will be held at The Old Glass Place from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Check-in and networking will be available at 10 a.m.

The summit focuses on inclusive workforce solutions including a positive, accepting workplace culture.  The EmployAbility Collaborative has partnered with the Springfield Area Human Resources Association (SAHRA) for the 2016 Employability Summit to include Stop & Go Interactive for an interactive luncheon.  For more information about the Springfield Area Human Resource Association, visit SAHRA's website

Lunch Presentation
Disclosure is an interactive play developed by Stop & Go Interactive. An understaffed and overwhelmed hiring supervisor of a department store prepares to interview Kate, a woman with undisclosed a PTSD-related mental disability. Meanwhile, Kate meets with her Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for advice on whether to disclose. Disclosure is a theatrical tool for facilitating a dialogue on workplace inclusivity of employees with hidden disabilities. This applied dramafacilitated by Stop & Go Interactiveportrays the complex relationship between the employer, the employee, and Vocational Rehabilitation.

Inspired by the work of Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed, Stop & Go Interactive engages communities in personal stories of unresolved conflicts and invites them to join their Creative Team in creating live dramatizations of these problems as an educational tool to facilitate an interactive Forum for progressive dialogue. This "Forum Theatre" becomes a vehicle for deeper discussion and collective problem-solving. In the Forum, the spectators are empowered to become "spect-actors"no longer merely passive observers, but active participants in the play, allowing them to fully embody knowledge through direct experience. Stop & Go Interactive provides a safe space for communities to explore alternative solutions to serious issues, and do so vicariously through drama.  For more information, visit Stop & Go Interactive's website
