FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Please join the City of Springfield, Ozark Greenways Inc., the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, and Greene County at 11 a.m., Thursday April 30 for the dedication and ribbon cutting for the Fassnight Creek Greenway and Stormwater Project.

The ceremony will take place on the greenway just east of Parkview High School near the intersection of Utah Avenue and Bennett Street. Street parking is available on Utah on either side of Bennett.

This $3.8 million project involved the reconstruction of bridges and roadways and floodplain improvements to reduce flooding hazards to motorists and the nearby neighborhood. The extension of the Fassnight Greenway increases transportation opportunities and enjoyment of the creek and park.

Funding for the project was provided by stormwater bonds approved in 2001 and 2004, paid for by the Level Property Tax. Additional funding was provided by the Springfield-Greene County Parks Sales Tax.

For more information about the project, please contact stormwater engineer Todd Wagner at 417-864-1932.
